The above bulls are from Estancia Buena Esperanza in the Central North East of Argentina, 30ºS, close to the border with Uruguay. This is a ranch that has been in the same family of British origin since 1878. The herd is around 3000 cows and have always used British genetics until the 80's. At that time Mr. Bob Sword introduced three Polled bulls bred by Wild Cat Sundance 7K. He was so disgusted with the progeny that in 1989 closed the herd to outside blood and started a rotational breeding scheme suggested by an English geneticist. The herd was divided into 4 or 5 sub-herds, where bulls from herd 1 were mated with cows of herd 2 and so on. The whole herd now is around 40 50% horned and and from what I have seen there are better cattle than the polls. Very nice herd, about frame 4 I guess. It is not registered. I was able to buy 36 pregnant heifers in February that are calving right now.
