I am going to just leave this right here. Around 1978 I judged a show as a co-judge with David Largent. Prior to the judging I asked him what was his base point in selection. I quote "Pick your your heifers like you would pick your girlfriends" Then I asked about the bulls. " Pick your bulls like a girl would pick her boyfriends." First class in had a heifer that was "Fat and sloppy"... I looked over at David and he looked me right square in the eye grinned and shook his head no. I've been watching the shows in Denver... Bet you cannot guess what my head is doing...

Probably don’t want to get a bunch of spray paint on their hands.

We all have been told on the phone "I don't want a bull that is fat!", but they always pick the fattest one. Anybody that sells bulls has to walk a fine line between enough and too much condition. Most judges today don't seem to know the difference between red meat and white meat. Besides, fat covers most flaws except an inability to walk and that seems unimportant today. But, it is like the horned/polled debate, there is no point in wasting breath talking about it, because each of us has opinions that are fully formed and basically unalterable.

This were the points judges were supposed to touch, starting with Nº 1 and finishing with 14.
